Xanthosoma violaceum, is often called the ‘Violet or Blue Taro’ due to the waxy purple colour of the petioles.
There is a more common form, known as Xanthosoma sagittifolium which has far less elegant plain green stems and leaves.
Xanthasoma is not hardy but will be happy in the garden throughout summer. It can be moved into the house during winter where it will remain evergreen (or can be set stored if preferred).
Feed heavily for best growth.
